Resumen

The grain trade from Apulia to the Mediterranean and Europe was, during the late Middle Ages, a basic
asset of the economy of the Kingdom of Naples. A trade that, however, was led not by local merchants but
by merchants coming from more commercial developed areas, with a central role played by commercial
elite coming from Florence. A history that during the second half of the 15th century had, among its
protagonists, the mercantile-banking firm of the Medici.
