Abstract

This essay discusses in various aspects the volume edited by Anne Huijbers, Emperors and imperial discourse in Italy, c. 1300-1500, emphasising the novelty of the book’s epistemological orientation with respect to Italian historiography, which is often refractory to the history of ideas. the themes of political discourse and spatiality are central to the discussion.
