Abstract

PONTICELLI LAB. THREE SCENARIOS FOR THE STRATEGIC DESIGN OF INTERRUPTED LANDSCAPES

Abstract

The case study of Ponticelli district, in the eastern periphery of Naples, offers a repertoire of unbuilt areas, mixed with examples of public residential settlements, large facilities and infrastructural networks. Decades of all-encompassing planning have composed a panorama of wastescapes and awaiting areas. In their overlap with the off-scale urban spaces without quality, that a new possibility arises to recover relationships with the agricultural palimpsest, in search of incremental regeneration processes, by which to involve new actors and measure hierarchies of open and built space. The Laboratorio di Sintesi of the UPTA Study Course (DiARC, Unina), against the background of the principles of sustainable development, hypothesizes three scenarios, to guide the demand for transformation of the new Urban Recovery Program recently introduced by the Municipality of Naples.
